What is Cooper Software’s relationship with IFS?
Cooper Software and IFS are Official Business Partners, for a full description of this relationship see news article.
If we implement any developments with Cooper Software will it invalidate our warranty with IFS?
No! Cooper Software are experts in developing solutions which utilize IFS’s SOCA (Service Oriented Component Architecture). The applications we develop do not breach any licensing or support restrictions – they simply provide flexible gateways that unlock additional capability.
To ensure this is the case we have developed a unique Data Access Layer (DAL) which plugs directly into IFS’s SOCA to enable us to deliver reliable, robust and proven solutions for considerably less cost than traditional system modifications, application add-ons or interfaces.
Your IFS warranty remains unaffected; the services we provide are recognised to enhance and extend the IFS environment that you have. In most cases the work that we carry out is not something that IFS would not treat as core. Furthermore, each Cooper Software engagement is consistent and a suite of document templates has been developed in order to ensure that we deliver our solutions in a compressed time frame while still maintaining a high quality delivery. Our software engagement, delivery and support processes are ISO 9001 certified.
If Cooper Software extends our IFS implementation, who manages support?
Our support program falls in line with all other support services you need in order to manage your IT applications and infrastructure. This could be done by your own IT team or directly with Cooper Software. It’s important to mention that we do not adjust or amend your core IFS system; we simply access it via our DAL and deliver extensible functionality. Our current global client base counts on Cooper Software as a standard part of their IT support capability. Our support services include In House Diagnosis and Repair, Triage and Support Management Service and Acceptance Testing and Resolution Management.
Would you be on site?
Yes! However we encourage and have a proven track record of delivering the majority of our services remotely, which helps to keep down costs. We do this in most cases and have invested heavily in a capable internal infrastructure and processes which support iterative, remote working.
How can you help our in-house development team?
We work alongside internal IT and development teams. The feedback we receive from our customers is that our process oriented approach and wide ranging experience enables us to help companies expedite strategic projects. This is something that can be difficult to progress internally, as operational priorities can consume the majority of local resources.
Can CS optimise our version of IFS ApplicationsTM?
Cooper Software are the largest independent IFS consultancy in the UK and offer a credible and capable option to those companies who are looking to get more out of their IFS system. We offer a viable alternative to IFS when it comes to development services and enhancements to IFS. To this end we have developed a suite of re-usable and robust solutions that can be deployed in the fraction of the time it takes to develop a bespoke modification, add-on or interface. We deliver solutions fast and reliably whilst also being cost effective.
We want to manage the solution ourselves once CS has delivered, is this possible?
Absolutely, our structured framework approach and comprehensive deployment packs ensure that all of the solutions we deliver can be easily picked up by internal development resources, even other external consultancy companies if the Customer chooses. To provide you with further confidence we are happy to arrange for all source code to be placed under a managed ESCROW agreement, if required.
What are your underlying technologies?
We specialise in the use of Web technologies including (ASP, Ajax and Javascript), Microsoft Platforms (Windows, Office, SharePoint) and Database technologies (Oracle and SQL Server). However that said as an independent software house we have experience that crosses all major development technologies, database platforms and operating systems. We also have experience in other ERP applications including SAP and Microsoft Dynamics.
Does IFS support the work you do?
We don’t change or modify IFS core code therefore IFS have no requirement to support our work. We utilise the IFS business rules therefore our solutions are independent extensions to IFS and sit with any other additional applications that your company has.
What if IFS changes the core application and it impacts a CS development?
Just as IFS would need to make changes to any modifications they had made, Cooper Software would simply do the same. This is extremely unlikely, but as reassurance any consequential activity of this nature is covered under the support and maintenance terms that we offer.
